An international workshop on 'Consumer Rights' was held by the initiative of the Ministry of Commerce, which was organized by the Bangladesh Tariff Commission. In this workshop presenters of articles and discussant from home and abroad have given emphasis on the point that, the liberalization of the world economy has inexorably opened up our economy to foreign competition and this free market may not prevent such unfair practices by unscrupulous traders,

the importance of consumer protection for equity, social justice and economic efficiency is undeniable. It is an urgency to incorporate consumer protection in our macroeconomic and legal framework.
